That's probably good because you can listen to your music files as well that way. Your TV and the ATV have Tidal and Spotify in App form. The Cambridge has Spotify Connect and Chromecast so if you want to listen to Tidal/Spotify you'll need to stream from your phone or computer etc. The Cambridge CXNv2 has a pretty good DAC in it, probably/maybe better than in the P5 so you may be better off going analog out from the Cambridge to the P5. The Cambridge CXNv2 should sound better than the TV output or the ATV to TV output. This could open a can of worms so take it with a grain of salt though. OK I'll have a shot at answering your questions. LG 55B7 OLED (connected via optical to P5) Yamaha NS700x (inherited from the old man) I hope this makes sense, Thankyou all in advance!įor reference, my system is as follows. I’ve done some digging and have failed to find any real answersĪm I correct in my thinking or is there some sub sampling and the like going on behind the scenes that a dedicated streamer would eliminate to offer a greater listening experience?īasically I’m happy to go and spend a further $1500 or so if it will net me a greater (perceivable) result, however I’d rather save myself the coin if I’m only going to be feeding my ego. I’m currently seeking to make the next improvement in my home HiFi setup, I primarily listen to online music streaming services such as Spotify and tidal for convenience reasons as I love a wide range of music! As such, I’ve currently been listening to tidal via my Apple TV and Spotify via my LG oled and have been eyeing off a Cambridge CXNv2 to further enhance my system.Īfter further thought, will I gain any perceivable advantage in audio quality if I were to connect the streamer via optical (assuming my DAC within my P5 is the better choice)? At the end of the day, the P5 will remain the device that will be processing the PCM audio which “should” be the same as the stream being sent via a streamer or Smart TV right?
